spend time with me

My inner self calls out to me
from deep within the walls of skin.
She yearns to spend time with me
for she feels ignored, forgotten,
unappreciated.

“Come spend time with me.
Let me show you who I really am
and what I need from you.
We have potential to unite as one;
we don’t need to do this alone.

I know how to access
all you’re looking for.
I know these depths within better than you,
everything is already here.
Let me be your guide.”

To see,
to know,
to understand,
is to love:
to love myself.

listening to my body

It’s OK to take it easy,
slow down your pace for a while,
if your body tells you it needs such.

I hear this from my body today,
a yearning to just be,
without constraints or expectations.
She yearns for me to listen, and oblige,
the least I could do.

She asks for love, and compassion,
and acceptance.
Unconditionally.
“Love me just the way I am, now.”

So today, I will slow down,
listen to, and love
my body.

see the forest too

Stop where you are.
Look at the tree, the single tree
in front of you,
and the one beside.
But also, look beyond.
Look out, at the giant forest
standing tall in the background,
where some trees in the front
can be distinguished,
but the further you look
the more they all blur together.
A sea of greens and browns,
needles and leaves,
rocks and twigs
individual, but collective.

When you cannot see the forest for the trees,
you lose the collective.
Stop, step back,
appreciate the forest
and your tree within it.

early morning glow

Strange, how
the early morning glow and warmth
rests upon my eyes in a new way,
like I have never before sat in the kitchen
eating breakfast before work
and looked outside to the world waking up.

It must have happened before,
years before,
and days too many to count.

How unfortunate
to think of those mornings unappreciated,
showing up to start anew
yet passing by my clouded eyes,
gone.
