I cannot lose myself

November 15, 2020 ~ jennadawn ~ Leave a comment

Even if
I must sit here for hours
waiting for my mind to find stable ground
and step off the race track,
I will wait
as long as it takes.

If I do not wait for myself,
what I lose
is me.

real to you

Even things that aren’t real can be real,
as long as they’re real to you.

So when you lose them, mourn the empty space
they once owned in your heart,
and mourn them deeply.

No one can tell you you cannot cry.

break this pattern

August 6, 2019August 6, 2019 ~ jennadawn ~ Leave a comment

Words repeated over and over,
laced with pure intention
but lacking follow-up action.

Phrased a dozen different ways,
but all meaning the same:
nothing,
when never acted upon.

Lose the mask, the facade of purity
and good intentions,
it’s time to break this pattern.
