not yours to carry

February 7, 2023 ~ jennadawn ~ Leave a comment

Darling,
there you go again
loading onto your shoulders
anxieties and un-controllables
that are not yours to carry.

They are not yours to carry
so please
let them go.

Free yourself.

how his shoulders would feel beneath her hands
how his arms would flex beneath the cotton
the pressure his hand would apply to her hips
as he leads her across the dance floor,
I remember how you led me.
