Sometimes
all it takes, is to hear
the call of an owl
gently wafting through the barren trees
of an early March morning,
before the sun has risen,
to remind me
to seek beauty and wonder
in this world
always.

full-colored view
What lay asleep in blackness
only moments ago,
now shows me signs of waking up
with color and light shining on,
and emanating from, their being.
Trees and clouds, vehicles and houses
come into full-colored view
as dawn breaks into day.
As coffee courses through my body
and words fill the pages,
I too come into full-colored view,
into myself.
hustle and bustle
The trees, the air, the sky
may be still,
but listen to the
hustle and bustle of community
living within and between.
Contrast of busyness and stillness
around
and within us.
morning sounds
Sound carries a long distance
in the morning
when there are few others
to compete with.
Listen to the world.
Appreciate, then choose,
your contribution.
beyond the trees
Out beyond the trees
still blackened with the shadows of night
there is blue sky
and a sun rising, to meet us.
There is always light.
sun’s wishes
How lucky are we
that the sun, with each passing day,
wishes to spend more time with us,
so she wakes early and stays up late
just for us.
The sun will come out
The sun has come up today
just as the song promised yesterday
it would.
Watch, stare,
as trees, grass and houses
come into view
illuminated
by the sky turning soft blues and pinks
softly, gently.
The sun will come out tomorrow, too.
More beauty awaits us then.
early morning glow
Strange, how
the early morning glow and warmth
rests upon my eyes in a new way,
like I have never before sat in the kitchen
eating breakfast before work
and looked outside to the world waking up.
It must have happened before,
years before,
and days too many to count.
How unfortunate
to think of those mornings unappreciated,
showing up to start anew
yet passing by my clouded eyes,
gone.
