You may find it in the
least expected of places;
what you want,
what you’re looking for,
if you can only keep your
eyes and heart
open.

in your favorite cup
Love me hard but love me gently.
Love my darkness, richness and warmth
as I travel from your mouth
down to esophagus and stomach,
disseminating to warm and comfort
your entire body.
As I rest here, staring out the window
in your favorite cup
painting steam gently on the window,
I know you’re thinking about me,
and I am so grateful
to bring you such joy
on this foggy fall morning.
wonder often
Wander far and
wonder often.
Soar above and through the boundaries
separating you
from the other side
where you want to be,
where you are meant to be,
where you will find
the path leading through the winding
trees and valleys
of your soul, to your heart
and until you find it
wonder often
and wander far
through and through.
may we find humility
It looks barren, stripped, hard,
exposed,
the world outside living in autumn.
Leaves have left the trees
green evaporating from the grass
warmth rescinding from the ground.
I feel you, world,
but join me in embracing this change,
the nakedness, the exposure,
for if we find ourselves stripped bare
and left for everyone to see and judge
may we find power
may we find humility
may we find courage
to trudge on, and on,
paving the path for transformation to happen around us,
too.
you aren’t
You look the part.
You look, feel and act as though you
were it, the real thing.
But we both know you aren’t
and soon, everyone else will too.
cloaked deceptions
To daydream of change
yet cower at the face of
real-time opportunity for such
casts a spotlight on the answer
you knew all along.
You cannot fool the heart
when its true desires are known.
Rather, cast doubt upon
the mind’s meanderings
for that is where
the cloaked deceptions reside.
We are all
Let go of the self-deprecating beliefs
that make you feel inadequate,
small or unworthy.
They do not speak the truth.
Why place people on a pedestal
when you’re unwilling
to place yourself on one, too?
We are all the same.
We are all learning
and growing
and we can do that together.
Bleed.
rest your fingers upon the keys
hold the pen in your hand, tip pressed down to paper
Inhale
Exhale
un-focus your eyes and let the world become blurry
mute the clamoring voices inside your head
Inhale
Exhale
relax the muscles from neck down to toes
swallow insecurities, fears and doubts
Inhale
Exhale
and
Bleed.
or skin
Scan, survey,
poke and prod, stab and dig
the ground until you find
a glimmer of red
an apple of the ground.
Dead plants above
wilted and brown
bear bountiful fruit below
if one has the will to break
through the dirt
or skin.
Please Try Again
It starts at the pelvis.
A pre-battle cry
heard so often, so often before.
My body instinctively crouches down
with rain clouds building behind my eyes,
a cold wind at their heels.
Painful numbness
settling in, setting up camp
to offer reassurance that it’s there,
still there.
Waking me up from sleep so deep,
jolting me back to Earth from a daydream,
twisting and turning my innards from behind,
singing a song
“Remember, remember,
dandelions, shooting stars and wishes
have failed you.
There is no one here with you,
you’ll have to try again.”
The message rings out loud and clear:
Please Try Again.
